2005: North Portland in the Rain
Year two was a wet one! It poured on all of us. Still I'm impressed that 5 families showed up for the egg hunt and 25 bunnies for the regular ride.
THE MINI RIDE & EGG HUNT
The first hour of the event was for mini bunnies on bikes, or bunnies on mini bikes. The ride host rode a borrowed "Sprockettes" pink mini and enjoyed racing a young bunny also on a pink mini (though she had a lovely pink basket!). Five families came for the Egg Hunt. Eggs were hidden through-out the sunken rose garden. Little Bunnies enjoyed searching for Egg Surprises- each egg had a bike fortune, and toy.
THE ROUTE
The ride looped through North Portland, starting at Peninsula Park. We biked down Ainsworth and took a left on Willamette and biked along the bluff, then zig-zaged over Greeley and back behind the Adidas campus and took the bike/walk overpass to the Overlook neighborhood. Then we all crossed Interstate and biked over the bike/walk bridge to get to the Mississippi'hood. And though Mississippi Ave was quiet, the bunnies paraded down Mississippi Ave, handing out eggs to a few surprised folk. Now that we were thoroughly soaked, we hurried back to the tea-party at the Peninsula Park Commons next to the park.
THE TEA-PARTY
The homemade and iced Easter cookies were gobbled up, and warm drinks down the hatch. A few bunnies nibbled on carrots. Thanks to the Breakfast on the Bridge crew for getting the coffee ready and for the Peninsula Park Commons offering us an indoor place to dry off.
